I'm Terrible at this Blog Thing

I'm not going to lie, I'm really bad about getting on here and writing stuff. Which is ironic, considering that I spend most of my spare time writing music or books. But, here we are.

You're probably here because you're interested in my music or your music teacher has forced you to write a research paper about your favorite piece of music (or you missed a concert and have to make up the credit) and that favorite piece was written by me. If that is the case, just send me a message via the "Contact Jeffrey" section of the home page and I'll get back to you as soon as I'm able.*

I do have a new piece out this fall called "Basile's Galop," and I hope it'll be a good addition to the school repertoire, as it has a lot of opportunity to talk about DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusiveness, and Belonging) and our somewhat sordid past as a nation. Basile Bares was born into servitude in the antebellum south and was the first person in servitude to register his music with a copyright. It's a great little piece that also gives a bass (BASS?) soloist (or section) a chance to shine.

I'll try and do better for the folx who do check in here periodically and maybe write a post more than once every six months.

Thanks,

Dr. B

* Seriously, just send me a message if you're curious what I'm up to. It'll save you time and me some frustration.
